The most beautiful beach in the Maremma

Just a few minutes from Casa in Maremma Tuscany Village.

A picturesque beach enclosed by green Mediterranean scrub and fine sand are just some of the features that make Cala Violina Beach the most beautiful beach in Maremma!

Cala Violina beach awaits you immersed in the Scarlino Coastal Nature Reserve with light-coloured, grainy sand composed of tiny quartz grains. In fact, the name Cala Violina derives precisely from this particular sand: when you walk on it, the sand is able to emit a particular sound, which seems to recall the sound of a violin!

But its waters are no less impressive: let yourself slip gently into the turquoise, crystal-clear waters with a panorama of thick Mediterranean scrub behind you that only the Maremma can offer.

How to get to Cala Violina Beach

Cala Violina beach is located between Follonica and Punta Ala (both about 10 km away), exactly within the Bandite di Scarlino Nature Reserve, a few kilometres from Casa in Maremma Tuscany Village.

The beach can be reached by two routes:

From the Puntone side by bicycle (rather tiring) along a wonderful path after entering the Portiglioni barrier (immediately after the Port of Scarlino).

From the Pian d’Alma side by car or motorbike along the SP 158 until you reach the car park, which is closed, precisely because the beach is located in a nature reserve. It is advisable to arrive early in the morning to avoid this problem. From the car park to the beach you have to cross an easy path through the cool pine forest of about 20 minutes.

There are no bathing establishments on the Cala Violina beach, nor are there any refreshment points on the beach, although during the summer you can find kiosks selling drinks and street food before you reach the beach. In the pine forest near the beach, there are wooden tables and benches for sheltering in the cool under the pine trees, for pleasant picnics or for perfect shady rests for young and old.
